Archive for the Cataloguing of the Futurist Artworks by Fortunato Depero
When the Commissione Autentiche (Committee for the registration of Depero’s artworks) run by Museo Depero (1973-1979) was closed, the Heirs of the artist felt the responsibility to deal with the works and the image of the artist and looked for a collaboration with Museo Depero.
Between the Heirs of Depero and Mart, responsible for the Depero Museum, has been recently reached an agreement that should lead to a future collaboration, precisely in the artist’s interest, with the hope of converging in a shared dealing policy of protection and estimation of the artist.
According to the foresaid agreement Mart will deal mainly with the lot of works given by the artist to the City of Rovereto in 1960, while the general cataloguing and the registrations are competence of Depero’s Archive. Maurizio Scudiero, who has been studying Depero since the Seventies and dealing professionally with the artist, collecting data on his artworks since the half of the Eighties, was entrusted with the general cataloguing of Depero’ works and is responsible for the Depero’s Archive.
Anyone else delivering oral or written statements on Fortunato Depero’s artworks, acts in personal capacity, and such opinions are not acknowledged by Depero’s Archive.

Notes
- We inform that, as a general rule, the registration is effected by the study on the artwork and only on it. Any historical documents will be considered useful but not resolutive. Other previous certifications delivered in personal capacity by different critics and experts, or any other institution, without a specific documented authority on Depero will be considered as unessential. The registrations by Depero’s Archive are the only ones accepted by Italian and European Auction Houses.
- In order to avoid any procedural superimpositions Depero’s Archive does not deliver any estimations and does not register any artwork previously valued by the Commissione Autentiche (Commettee for the Registration) of the Museo Depero (1973-1979) because these registrations are competence of Mart, appointed for the management of Depero’s Museum.
- We finally warn collectors, art galleries and auction houses that we have evidenced the existence of false ‘statements of occured registration’, produced as if they were by Depero’s Archive in order to back works that are obviously not undersigned by the artist. Therefore, before the purchase of any Depero’s work, works with expertise included, we suggest to contact Depero’s Archive by e-mail in order to check the data.
Copyrights
As for the printing, multimedia or merchandising of works by Fortunato Depero the royalties belong to the Heirs of Depero but with the exception of the works given by Depero to the city of Rovereto in 1960.
The rights on the works included in the donation are due to the Municipality of Rovereto and are dealt by the S.I.A.E. (Società Italiana Autori Editori).
The S.I.A.E. does not deal, anyway, with the works NOT included in the testamentary donation of the Master to the Municipality of Rovereto and with the works purchased by the Museum after 1960, the rights of which are due to the Heirs of Depero.
